老妈子鸳鸯火锅

29 05 2007

The location is difficult to say, and I’m really sorry for not getting the business card. Walk straight all the way at Jalan Besak, after McDonald’s, walk a few more metres, it’s below the shophouses, that street is one way traffic which is opposite my direction if I walk from Sim Lim Tower.

Lao Ma Zi Yuan Yang Huo Guo

Lao Ma Zi Yuan Yang Huo Guo pot

My ex-colleagues and I felt that the food prepared is fresh, try the mushroom! There’s 2 separate soup base, the spicy one is really spicy, try if you can take hot spicy food or not. We gave up eventually. We find the steamboat buffet cheap, $13 per person, non air-con, drinks not included. There’s ready-cooked finger food and watermelon (fruits) after the buffet. Free flow fruits and meat. Everyone like the sliced meat, it’s so skillfully cut that looks really delicious even when it’s not thrown into the soup. Haha..

I like Smoked duck!

There’s cakes and chef-made bread and my fav. doughstick!

Outside, there’s BBQ fish and steak…

My first round
My second round

Butter in a bell container

Thick brewed coffee

Weekdays: $39+++ per adult
Weekends: ??
My personal opinion: The smoked fish is quite salty. Hope they can improve. Romantic setting. Remember to get the chef to cook the bbq fish, they are positioned outside in the non air-con area. And there’s a lounge outside with soothing music by their in-house vocalist and pianist.

Banquet at Jurong Point

If you are wondering what to eat at the Banquet (food court) at Jurong Point (Boon Lay)… follow the one with the longest queue..
Warning: Sometimes longest queue may be a smokescreen. But if the staff are quite fast yet there’s long queue, it usually means the food is among the better ones there.

I tried the chicken rice, and it’s ok.. haha may be because I have tried the chicken rice at Shangri-La that has left me a deep impression, this one didn’t give me much attention. haha..

Chicken rice at $3.20 (with Banquet discount card $2.90)
Sorry I’m not sure with the price for the set meal (below). It’s bought by my dad.

Wu Han 武汉

Location:
Chinatown Point shopping centre Level 1
Directly underneath the Singapore Post Office

The fish is fresh and there’s lots of sesame seeds. I’ve seen many people patronizing the shop in the weekends. You may choose to sit inside where it’s air-conditioned or outside. Managed by a China lady. She’s quite diligent because she even served us despite having some workers. The soups are normal (requested her to boil again cos it’s not hot), the rice isn’t up to my standard, hmm I’m quite picky this time. May be I should try the steamboat next time, I heard people saying that it’s good.

Fish $8
Herbal soup with rice $3.50

Our bill: $15
